Assistant Instructor (Full Time / Part Time)

Our Assistant Instructors will assist our Main Instructor to conduct, deliver and facilitate our sewing classes.

This position offers a unique experience where you can build on your passion in sewing through teaching students to unlock their sewing skills and bring their sewing dreams to life.

 Job Description

  • You will have a chance to assist teaching our core classes Basic Apparel Class, Beginner Sewing Class, Beginner Sewing Class - Parenthood is Sew Fun
  • It is a prerequisite to undergo training by attending classes as a student so that you not only learn how to undertake the project, empathize with students and observe how you can best support the Main Instructors conduct the lessons 
  • We take care and pride in our sewing machines, tools and materials. As such, you will be given the opportunity to undergo training outside of teaching to understand how to care and operate the tools of the trade
  • Support in other related daily studio operations or events

Requirements

  • Have basic sewing experience
  • Have strong command of the English language
  • Teaching experience will be an advantage
  • Meticulous and positive attitude towards work
  • Customer service experience will be an advantage
  • Comfortable with using emails/ smart phone apps and social media
  • A minimum requirement of 1 year commitment

Work Location

Compensation and work arrangements

  • Teachers are required to commit to teaching one weekend lesson
  • Teachers attending training will be compensated
  • There will be a mandatory 3 month probation period to assess culture fit, performance and suitability for both teacher and Sew Fun
  • Compensation is open to negotiation
  • CPF is included

 

Main Instructor (Full Time / Part Time)

Our Main Instructors will lead the delivery of our core sewing classes.

This position offers a unique experience where you will channel your passion for sewing through honing the sewing skills of students and build up their confidence to take on more complex projects on their own.    

 Job Description

  • You will have a chance to lead our core classes like Basic Apparel Class, Beginner Sewing Class, Beginner Sewing Class - Parenthood is Sew Fun  
  • It is a prerequisite to undergo training by attending a class as a student to get a good understanding of the teaching materials and approach. Subsequently, it is a requirement to be an assistant instructor for 2 classes
  • We take care and pride in our sewing machines, tools and materials. As such, you will be given the opportunity to undergo training outside of teaching to understand how to care and operate the tools of the trade
  • May include development of new projects/ curriculum and instructions and procurement of materials for the projects
  • Support in scheduling of classes
  • Support in other related daily studio operations or events

Customer Service / Administrator (Full Time)

Our Customer Service / Administrator will be the first point of contact for our customers. You will have the opportunity to understand how we delight the students before they even start their classes and support Sew Fun to thrive.

 Job Description

  • Customer Service
    • Daily
      • Respond to customer enquiries via email, whatsapp and Insta message, FB messenger (1000-1600hrs)
      • Process class registration
      • Answer call-ins through the phone (1000-1600hrs)
    • Ad-hoc
      • Manage refund to customers where required in accordance to refund policy (to work with necessary staff to ensure the task is completed and update customer via email with transaction details)
      • Arrange for customer make up lessons taking reference from class schedule and lesson and where required work with instructors to align on proposed make up lesson.
      • Manage customer request mailing list
      • Manage transfer of classes by students
      • Work with instructors to manage customised class requests
  • Class registration processing (before, during and after class) through various tools like email, SkillsFuture Credit website via TP Gateway, Shopify
  • Set up classes digitally (i.e. onto our website and SkillsFuture Credit website via TP Gateway.
  • Manage transactions / activities/ administrative tasks via TP Gateway.
  • Assess and identify potential digital tools to automate processes (e.g. email reminders / whatsapp message reminders for classes, scheduling etc.)

Requirements

  • Have strong command of the English language
  • Meticulous and positive attitude towards work
  • Customer service experience will be an advantage.
  • Comfortable with using emails/ smartphone apps, google drive and google related apps (e.g. google doc, sheets.etc), digital software (e.g. QuickBooks and Shopify), social media (e.g. Instagram & Facebook) and SkillsFuture website (e.g. TP Gateway)
  • A minimum requirement of 1 year commitment

Work Location

  • Flexible work arrangements (4 weekdays and 1 weekend) - to work from home and at either studio locations where required
  • There will be a mandatory 3 month probation period to assess culture fit, performance and suitability for both staff and Sew Fun
  • Compensation is open to negotiation
  • CPF will be included

  

Studio Operations (Part Time)

Our studio operations staff will ensure that the studio environment is kept organized, clean and stocked up to deliver a comfortable sewing experience.

 Job Description

  • Involve in the preparation processes of lesson fabric /materials (cutting, regular packing, re-stocking and sizing/checking)
  • Work with a team to stock take (informally every 6 months, formally once a year)
  • Assist in machine maintenance every 3 months
  • Assist with high level machine repairs/ troubleshooting
  • Assist in maintaining organisation of materials, tools and machinery
  • Assist in maintaining studio cleanliness
  • Support in other related daily studio operations or events
  • Support in labeling of tools/materials and machinery where required
  • Work with instructors on set-up of studio for specific classes (where required)

  • English/ Mandarin speaking
  • Hourly rates including CPF

Work Location

 

Social Media Guru / Graphic Designer (Full Time)

Job Description

  • Design the social media marketing strategy together with the team
  • Execute the social media plan including copywriting, graphic designing and photography. To ensure the content is organised and accessible.
  • Manage social media accounts and presence curation (e.g. Instagram, Facebook etc)
  • Digitalise sewing instructions and pattern fit for printing and digital sharing
  • Manage digital assets for website and social media

Requirements

  • Have strong command of the English language
  • Meticulous and positive attitude towards work
  • Customer service experience will be an advantage
  • Strong command in using digital artwork tools (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator etc), emails/ smartphone apps and social media and social media planning tools.
  • A minimum requirement of 1 year commitment
