How many teachers and students are there in each class?

There are 1-2 instructors for each class, and each class has a maximum of 10 students.

Do we need to bring anything for class?

We provide all tools, sewing machines and materials. This includes a basic sewing kit (snips, seam ripper, chalk pencil, air erasable marker) which you will receive in the first class. You just have to turn up!

What if we miss a class? Do you offer makeup lessons?

For our beginner sewing class, most of our sessions are not built upon one another; for example, if you miss lesson 2, you can continue with lesson 3. To accommodate our students' schedules, we allow students to attend one makeup lesson if they need to miss a lesson. The makeup lesson must be attended within 6 months from the starting date of their beginner sewing class. Kindly inform our instructors beforehand if you need to arrange for a makeup lesson.

However, do note that lesson 1 is compulsory because it is a prerequisite for lessons 2-10. Students who register for a class must be able to attend the first lesson.

What are the payment modes?

When you register for the class via our online platform, you will need to pay a $100 deposit via PayPal, credit card, or bank transfer. After your registration is complete, we will email you with information on the options available for you to transfer the remaining course fee.

Can I use my SkillsFuture credit to pay for this class?

We have no experience with sewing. Is this class suitable for us?

Yes, this class is catered for you. The instructors will take time to explain the basics and answer your queries to the best of their ability. We are heartened to say that our 'graduates' have overcome their fear of sewing, and some have gone on to attempt more difficult sewing projects or even start their own businesses.

We have some sewing experience. Is this class suitable for us?

If you are still unfamiliar with the intricacies of sewing zips and changing presser feet, or find that you repeatedly run into roadblocks when attempting your own sewing projects, or would like to attend a refresher course that covers the basics, you are welcome to join our beginner sewing class. If you have a good mastery of sewing skills but want to make more complex bags, the intermediate sewing class is more suitable for you.

We would like to attend this class but the timing does not suit us. Can we arrange to take the class at a different time?

We can consider requests for customised classes on a case-by-case basis. We can customise express classes where the beginner sewing session syllabus is taught over a few days (rather than 10 weeks). We need at least 4 students to start a class though, so it is best to ask your friends to join the class too. Contact us at if you are interested in customised classes.

Does this course cover dressmaking/clothes-making?

Our Beginner Sewing Class covers general sewing skills (e.g. sewing, using paper patterns) that are applied to make bags, pouches, and household items. If you are interested in sewing clothes, you can take a look at our basic apparel class

Do you sell sewing machines?

We work with a local Janome distributor, Guan Lee Long Sewing Machine, to sell some of the sewing machine models that we use in our class. They have kindly agreed to supply selected models to our students at a discounted rate.

Do you sell fabric?

Yes, we have fabric that is available for sale. We have regular shipments of fabrics from other countries (e.g. Japan, China), and we also use deadstock fabric and vintage materials for our classes and products. Most of our fabrics are not available locally. You can purchase the fabric when you attend classes in our Midview City studio.

Who can I contact if I have other questions?
